Answer #1:

Do not put it in the washing machine. Antique quilts cannot handle the agitation. The dryer will ruin the batting.. Instead fill the tub with cool water and add some buttermilk. By hand push the quilt up and down in the water. Drain tub and rinse. Now air dry. Quilting for more then 20 yrs

Buddy first listen to me never put the quilts in the washing machine as they may damage the
batting and the backing. So do one thing put them in a big tub with some light chemicals and
start hand washing them.
